Super Shims composite board ramps consist of 2 pieces. The first piece starts at 1" and tapers to 1/2" in 12" and the second piece continues from 1/2" to the sub-floor. Carpet Shims Super Shims meet and/or exceed ADA (American Disability Act) transition requirements, while providing an extremely gentle taper from the hard surface to the sub-floor. Universal Side Shims are available for the Super Shims.

Installing Carpet Shims:
Determine the width of the opening. On the rough side of the Carpet Shim, using a carpet knife, score the shim three or four times at the needed length and snap it. Place the shim in the opening with the smooth side up and the high side toward the hard surface, leaving a *1/4" gap between the shim and the hard surface. Centered and evenly spaced, nail at least 5 ring shank nails per 32” of Carpet Shim. Place a Universal Side Shim at each side of the Carpet Shim and nail all four corners securely to the floor. Install the tack strip on top of the Carpet Shim maintaining the *1/4" gap. Install your pad and carpet, tucking the carpet into the 1/4" gap. It is that simple!

*Regarding the 1/4" gap, when extremely thick or thin carpet is being installed, adjust the gap accordingly. Also refer to hard surface manufacturer's recommendations.

Carpet Shims’ products may be attached to the floor using a good adhesive.

A life saver!

I'm so happy I stumbled across this product through an online search. It was a life saver. After the floors were leveled and tile was installed in two bathrooms, both floors ended up being about 1 5/8" higher than the subfloor. I was able to install these myself along with three Super Shim side pieces rather than paying my contractor a lot more to come up with another solution. The price does seems a little high, but other than that I have no complaints. It's a great product.

Worked Perfectly!

Surprise! Our subfloor was uneven and we were putting in hardwood floors upstairs. Absolutely worth waiting a week for these shims to get to us. They allowed us to level the floor, it is sturdy, and we were able to nail in the hardwood still instead of gluing it which we would have had to do with leveling compound. Will definitely purchase these again when we do the other rooms. Only wish shipping wasn't quit so high....but they are super heavy so it is understandable.

Product worked as expected

We got a new tile floor in our kitchen with radiant heat. This caused the floor to be raised about 1 1/2 inches higher than the carpet in the neighboring rooms. The carpet shim worked perfectly to correct this problem without us having to put in an unsightly saddle.

Great Product
