Ardex 8+9 Waterproofing Compound

Excellent product. Produces a thick fully adhered cohesive/coating. used it over Schluter membrane. As suggested a thick mixed small batch makes an excellent paste for patching. Fast ship and good pricing.

Works really well. Sets up a little faster than I expected, and covers a little more than I expected.

I'm very happy with how this waterproofed my shower. Using it along with the SK mesh tape on all joints and changes of planes made the shower feel very well protected. One package didn't do my whole shower with even 1 coat though. I had to order a 2nd package to finish the first coat and give it a 2nd coat so it makes for an expensive waterproofing but I'd use it again if I ever need to!

Worked as advertised. Rolled on very easy and worked well to waterproof my shower pan. Would recommend to anyone looking to waterproof.

I think that the Ardex 8+9 product is a quality waterproofing system. I didn't give it a 5 star because it is kind of difficult to work with and requires a little bit of a learning curve. My wife and I did the waterproofing together so as to be able to work more quickly and we still felt that the Ardex mix became very thick so fast that it was difficult to get the Ardex mesh tape to stick to it well. We ended up having to redo the corners of our shower surround as well as the corners around our shower niche where we initially applied the mesh tape because it didn't stick properly. Once we understood how to get the surface "wetted" well enough and really embed the tape into it, we had much better success. We also were able to do a complete tub shower surround with one "kit", so the footage estimate provided by Ardex was accurate for our job (about 70 sq ft with some left over). This stuff really sticks to tools and bare hands, so don't delay with clean-up and wear gloves if you don't want to have to spend a lot of time trying to clean up your hands. I also don't recommend mixing too much of the compound at a time. I would use this material again if doing another shower tile job and Tools4Flooring was easy to work with to obtain the product.

This was my first purchase from Tools 4 Flooring and it won't be my last. The price was very competitive, the shipping was fast and the product came undamaged. The Ardex 8+9 is a great water proofer. It mixes up well, goes on easy and produces a solid waterproof surface that is ready for tile. I used it on cement board and it worked great. I'll definitely use Ardex again in the future.

Solid product, does it's job well. Only complaints are with the manufacturer information. It took nearly two complete kits (40 sq ft per kit) to cover 80 sq ft of concrete backer bathroom alcove. The box says covers 70-100 sq ft per kit, unlikely. Also difficult to work with the compound, because it sets quick, and still have time to clean off your tools so more than likely will claim a few tools, compound knife, paddle bit, etc. Nearly impossible to get off. Does an outstanding job otherwise.

I have purchased Ardex 8+9 Waterproofing Compound twice now for DIY bathroom remodels. I compared it to the various membranes and the other paint on products available for waterproofing a tiled shower and was pleasantly surprised with it the first time. The second time around it worked even better. I guess that I learned how to mix it more throughly and spread it more evenly. When I flood tested it the first time I was surprised that there were no leaks after 24 hours. I used Hardi backer board both times and the Ardex 8+9 Waterproofing Compound sticks to it and everything else that it touches. The tile apply to it as if they were going onto the backer board directly. This is a GREAT PRODUCT!

I bought Redgard from HD and trusted it because of so many positive reviews there. I followed the instruction and used it on Hardie cement board. After a few days, I checked on it and I was so surprised to find out that I could peel off some areas just like peeling off an old paint.
I contacted their customer service and they recommended to apply a primer coat prior to two full coats. Their recommendation wasn't even on the manual and It was clearly not a user mistake. I had to spend a few hours to peel it off from the shower wall on a small bathroom size. No refund/replacement.

I bought Ardex 8+9 waterproofing compound and hoped that it would work based on some suggestions online for Hardie cement board. WOW! It was a huge different compared to RedGard. It sticked really well on Hardie cement board. It even sticked on my t-shirts, pants, and other materials. The smell was not as strong as RedGard. The dark grey color was nice too compared to RedGard bright red color. The most important different was the texture. The dried membrane had a rough texture good for bonding with cement. RedGard had a smoother soft plastic-like texture. I would highly recommended Ardex 8+9 on Hardie cement board. Their customer service was fast and helpful when I called them for some questions.
