Ardex Feather Finish Self-Drying Cement-Based Finish Underlayment, 10 lb. Bag

I have used this product before so knew what to expect, I used it to cover my basement stairs as a top coat, looks fantastic covers the builder grade stairs, you do have to be quick it sets off quickly I mixed1 cup water to 2 cups powder, and instead of using a trowel I used my hands, works for me I can get the look I am after and no sanding after. I am now covering a cement wall and some more stairs as well as a wall in my basement. So am putttting it to good use. Love the product and the price.

For those of you that don't know, don't bother with anything else. This is by far the #1 choice of pros for filling holes, patching and skimming floors.

the ardex feather finish worked great.we put 4 thin coats over our counter tops with no problems.We also received our AFF really quick..I have told a lot of our friends about AFF and how great it worked..will order more when we start on our Kitchen...

Fast shipping! Easy to navigate this site and order. I've never used this type of product before so it's hard for me to rate it but it did work for the project I applied to to.

ADVICE: only mix a small amount at first and get a feel for it. This product "set up" or started to harden VERY QUICKLY for me - like less than 15 minutes! I wasted half a bag mixing the first batch and had to throw it away in the bucket. The instructions only tell you how to use the whole bag, so just do some math for smaller quantities. I reduced the ratio even more so that it was nearly one to one, slightly more mix than water.

- NOT self-leveling and doesn't even really "pour" You will have to scoop it out and use trowles to smooth out/level.

Bubbles - I got a lot of air bubbles with certain batches. If you are doing any type of detail work with this (or for a counter top re-surface, which is what I did) - scrape down and get those bubbles out and re-apply. I tried to go back and "fill-in" or cover over some of these air holes and it didn't work for me. After the sealer was applied I got little bumps over the air holes.

A PLUS- it took my stain well. I had read that you'd have to use special stain or that it couldn't be stained but it stained easily and accepted that sealer on top of that well, also.

The product worked excellent for what we used it for and the shipping was fast. Price was excellent as well couldn't ask for more! Great product!
